The Airborne Circle was dedicated at Fort Snelling Cemetery in August 2002 with 9 monuments honoring airborne units. Two of these monuments represent the 75th Ranger Regiment and the Rangers of the Korean War. In the succeeding years 8 more monuments have been added. With the addition of the Airborne Circle Fort Snelling has more military monuments than any other cemetery in the United States. Monuments, the cement platform and flag pole are paid for the individual airborne units with some help from VFW and American Legion Clubs when needed. Read about the Airborne Circle in the Airborne Quarterly (PDF).
Individual Korean War Rangers contributred money for thier monument. Ranger Emerson Gates, 15th Ranger, was the point man for this effort. Updated: July 3, 2006 |
